"Ornament on Oak" --- Sold

I usually post paintings I am happy with. Well, this one is different. I thought I had a good concept before I start, but it didn't work out the way I wanted. Please shoot bullets to it and let me know your comment. I am not going to post it on eBay, but in case you want, please make me an offer by email.

Qiang, this is lovely. If I were going to do ANYTHING, I'd eliminate the triangular shadow on the bottom left, make the painting just about the bough and the ornament. It's really enough. But the shadow is defintely not a deal breaker, you will sell this, I'm sure.

Hi Qiang- I was just browsing blogs and checked in here. I think this is really nice and agree with Kelley that it would sell. In my experience, sometimes my least favorites are other people's favorites.

Hey Qiang, sometimes you have to make a painting that doesn't work out. That keeps a painter sharp. But hey, is this one really that bad? I don't think so. I am not happy either with ALL the paintings I make. You'll only learn from it. Happy painting!

I think that lower shadow does add something to the painting, but its edge is a bit to close to the ornament for the eye to be comfortable.

The colors are wonderful, especially the dark reds in the ornament. It's very sensual and 'real' to me. So even if it isn't perfect compositionally, it's still a good painting. This called to me more than some of your previous, more balanced compositions simply because of the color.

I love this painting. The background looks a little unfinished, but I love it.

What kind of price is a good price?
