Surgeons at Work

I hope all of you have had a great Christmas. I want to share a painting with you today, which is a 24" x 30" figurative and narrative painting . I also made a short video to document the painting process. For this relatively large painting, I do not have enough experiences, especially figurative work. To get the proportion correctly is the major challenge. I want to say that the apps I have on my website have really helped me to see better. This painting took me more than ten days to do. I have learned quite a bit.

"On A Street in San Miguel" 24 x 30

I have just finished this large painting. If you have seen my recent Youtube video on "how to use an app to painting", then you saw this painting on the background. I have not done many large paintings. I really want to my painting to show the "painterly" quality. This goal is not easy to achieve for large paintings. I mainly used knifes to paint this one. I must say the newly developed app is really a big help for me to get my color accuracy quickly. It gives me more confidence of doing more large paintings in the future.

"Symphonic Water Lilies"

The World can move to whatever directions, but we just simply paint. Among all the bad news we got lately, I received one piece of good news: I have been juried in this year's Oil Painters of America National Exhibition, and I will show my recent work "Symphonic Water Lilies". It is a big painting 24" x 30". Since the show will be in Fredericksburg Texas, I can deliver the painting myself. It saves me a whole lot of shipping money.
