"Head Study 020415"

Life is a roll of toilet paper. When it close to the end, it goes really fast. I don't know why I become so inefficient nowadays. Coming back from San Miguel for about a week now, but I have not got any chance to paint. I have been so busy all the time, but busy for what, I have no idea. Our life has been invaded by so many junks. I look at my roll of toilet paper. It gets thiner and thiner everyday. I feel anxious every time when I go to the bathroom.

This study was done right before I went to Mexico. I really need to work on my portrait and figures. I have some workshops this year, I need to teach portrait painting. If I don't practice, I don't think I can do a good job.

I can understand what you mean exactly.....sometimes life stuff invades our time!!!

I feel the same about my situation... and even if we have some time for our painting it doesn't mean we paint / work efficiently... and while we know that we can't manage to change "mode"... that's when the anxiety starts. Specially if we only manage to work to prepare classes or workshops. That's not enough to transmit something we believe in or feel comfortable with.
So I hope you'll manage to get into your own painting process!! Wish you the best the new year!

I really do enjoy painting, it relieves anxieties, and quiets the soul. However, for some reason I keep procrastinating. I have a painting on my easel that I sketched in that sat there for two weeks, before I put in the background. Now it's been sitting with just the background for a week. I guess it is everyday life that gets in the way. Also, probably too much time on the computer looking at others work instead of workiing.

I have just got back to painting after 9 months off. I spent the nine months getting rid of all the things that kept me from painting ... this included moving home from a place we had lived in for 26 years. Now I can get at painting in a serious way, and finding your blog is going to help me considerably as I have only ever painted 48 paintings in my whole life! I did Pen & Ink professionally and my blogging buddies finally talked me into paint.

Love the portraits... yes, keep working on them, and then come back to Tucson for a workshop. Brenda's students all need to learn this from you!
