You can tell I am still experimenting with different background colors. I test using yellow today. I sort of like it. It gives me a feeling of sunset as painting landscapes, so I call it "dusk".
I love how the cool, gray pitcher sets in front of the warm, bright background. Isn't that breaking the rules! --- but is sure works. And that red rose bud sets up the painting just beautifully.
i am really enjoying these new lighter backgrounds. your paintings have a brighter, early morning quality to them, very appealing. i like that you are stretching yourself.
I hate to be the only naysayer, but I like your originals with the dark background. Your earlier works were classic. The brighter color backgrounds are okay for experimention and freedom of expression and all that, but the classic backgrounds will stand the test of time. This is just my opinion. I think you do great work. Just not a fan of the brighter works.
My name is pronounced as Chong Wong and I came from China and live in Texas now. I have been painting for many years. Starting from January 2007, I have been generating one painting every weekday, and weekend sometimes. Please enjoy my blog. If you like my work, I would like to thank you, because we have communicated visually and shared a common concept about the world. If you do not like my work, I would also like to thank you, because you have just found room of improvement for me. So please do not hesitate to let me know. I really hope my painting can bring you more happiness today, no matter how small it is.

Oooh, these color combinations are indeed compelling. I love the end result. Very calm yet passionate.

I think the different colour backgrounds work really well. Keep experimenting, I say! This is a beautiful painting.
