This is my first try of painting orchid. I had some hard time with it. My palette did not provide the colors I need. I could not mix the purple I want. If you have the experience with orchid painting, please help me out.

I find that violets or purples are hard to mix. I buy different violets already in the paint tubes to help. when I place oranges next to the violets, it makes them brighter. your work is beyond compare, I love your fruit paintings and now it is refreshing to see different flowers.

Have you tried Cobalt Violet Pink? It is a new color from www.blueridgeoilpaint.com
I also had trouble with this orchid and Eric Silver mixed the color I needed. Your Orchid is beautiful, your paintings an inspiration!
I had a similar problem, my teacher told me to buy tube of magenta,as this color cannot be mixed
