"Green Go Red Stop"

I am painting again. The time between this one and my last painting was about a week, so I am not qualified as an daily painter if I keep doing this. I did a lot of thinking lately. A couple of years ago, I don't think too much when I paint. "JUST DO IT" was my spirit. But nowadays, my art has reach to a bottle neck. I saw problems in my paintings. I can't stand when I see some of my old work. I am learning proactively, and feel overwhelmed. I must control my desire, and reluctantly pause something I really want to do (like figure drawing and painting). Now in still life, I have decided to do high key and colorful small paintings, and my dark background paintings for only large paintings. I also start to put away some of my general principles like "painting the light, not the object", and "use large area muted color to make the color at the focal point sing". I am working more on graphic design concepts, which I don't know enough about. I am trying new approaches, even approaches I don't have strong believe in. My today's painting is not my usual style. Someone may think I am going backward. No matter what, it is just an experiment.

Beautiful work! This new painting despite the brighter palette stlil looks like you because of your strokes.

I love to experiment, and admire how you're going at it so freely, and writing about it. It's very inspiring.

Honesty is the only thing that should count in art. Here we have it. I see also that this is one of you paintings and I like the light colored background.
Research is the best about art, don't you think. What would you do otherwise? Repeat yourself, not so good, so please continue your way.

L'essentiel n'est-il pas de laisser aller son ressenti ?...
J'aime beaucoup l'harmonie des couleurs de cette dernière belle composition.
Gros bisous

I like the color contrast of this painting. However, it seems that your low key paintings have more depth than the high key paintings. I am not sure if it is because the objects you chose don’t have much detail or the atmosphere of the painting. I admire that you dare to step out of your comfort zone to try something new. I look forward to seeing your new paintings. I just began to check your blogs recently when I began my fine art online study in Academy of Art in San Francisco. Thank you for sharing your works and thoughts. You inspire me.

I knew this was your painting Qiang, it still has your beautiful brushstrokes! I think without change we don't grow..and it's important how you feel about your work. Keep doing what you are doing!
