Click Here to BidCreating darkest dark was what I was working on with this painting. To get the best result, I feel I need enough "tooth" on the painting surface. High absorptive surfaces work better. I was using Alizarin plus Phthalo Blue for the bottle at the back.

interesting choices for the cool pinks in the apple...I love the texture....I have a Windsor & Newton "Indigo" which I really love for mixing dark darks...(I got that suggestion from Karin Jurick)
That has got to be the darkest bottle I've ever seen!!! (And the darkest black too.) Thanks for sharing the colors. :)
Love the black. I've been working on my blacks and reflections. I've been mixing ivory black with cadmium red to get a warm black and ivory black ultramarine blue to get a cool black. I'll definitely try Alizarin and Phthalo Blue. Thanks!

I sometimes use Alizarin with Phthalo Green... it gives also a really dark black.

Do you use Windsor Newton Phthalo Blue? Does it stain your brushes?
