This painting is still a part of my gray study. I have used ultramarine violet + cadmium green light + white. The mixture is good for light gray, but it can not make dark gray. I also start to touch base of depict the folds of the drapery. I painted drape before, but I need more systematic understanding to gain control.

The gray is absolutely beautiful :) and the folds look so soft and delicate. I love this piece !
I like the exploration of gray for the background--it is a different look, light and airy, but still very neutral. Thanks for sharing the colors you used--I'll try it!

Thank you for the new mixture for gray. Am also working on drapery in my paintings. Looking forward to future posts on the "systematic understanding" of painting drapery. I, too, need to nail this down!
I have used acrylics in the past and want to experiment with some of your color combos to see what I come up with by using watermedia instead of oils. I am very excited to see what I come up with.
I am very inspired by your grey studies. I've noticed that this particular grey ventures into the "taupe" zone. I gather that would be the violet interacting with the green?
I am finding your grey studies very interesting. The tomato pops!
Your vase and tomato have such weight and form. I could just pick them up. Beautiful!
I've been admiring your work since I started taking an art class and gained an appreciation for the work of other art student, many of us will be life-long students of art;there is always something new to learn or share. In fact I have a good web-link to share that describes the main fabric folds, here it is:
