"Gate to Wisdom"
This painting is from a photo I took at the Potala Palace in Lhasa Tibet. Tibetan Buddhism is mysterious to me, but I know it is one of the pathways to the utmost wisdom. A group of artists and I visit Lhasa in last September. I was rather sick due to the high altitude when we visited the Potala Palace, but I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. I got a ton reference photos during my China/Tibet trip. I will try my best to find time to do some paintings with them.
This painting is available for purchase.

my personal response to the "Gate to Wisdom" in all honesty : I absolutely do not like the textures of all the brush marks made in this and several other paintings. Waayyy too busy, chunky, messy, unfinished, sloppy, as if thrown on without regard. As if not worthy of taking time for placement of textures to advance the painting. Rather, the painting is secondary, only a vehicle for the flurry of myriad flourishes-having nothing to do with images. I love so many of your paintings but this style of painting produces only negative responses… With regret
