"Head Study 052012"

After all artists started painting on the third day of Fongwei's workshop, I set up my easel at a spot nobody chosen. It was a very challenge one. I have not done any head study from this angle before. I don't see much face features and I have no idea how to paint hair. After quite a struggle, I got this one. It is not too bad I think. I kind of like the hair I did.

Outstanding head! Even in this compromised situation you knocked it out of the park!

I find this view intriguing! Everything: the light, the hair...everything. Love it!

It has been a good picture, well resolved, with much ease and mastery.

The hidden features of the profile are perfectly executed by your mastery of line! It fights with the linear character of the background though. I think the large brushstrokes in the background distract from the beautiful hair. Take some aristc liscense with the ear and you have a masterpiece!

It's really good! You made all the highlights so perfectly. And her face is shaped beautifully. Nicely done!

Beautifully done, Qiang! Never underestimate your skills. If it's in front of you, a man of your skills can commit it to paint!

This is similiar to Andrew Wyeths "Christinas World", especially his preliminary drawings and watercolors. Actually the lighting and colors are similar.

Lovely--I like the "mystery" of the pose.
