"I try to depict the lush foliage by delineating only three leaves". Did I use the two "D" words correctly? Thanks to so many of you helping me by explaining the difference between "depicting" and "delineating". In the company I work. there used to be an engineer friend, Al. He helped me in English and American culture. We call every Friday: Qiang's culture day. I learned a lot from him. Now he has retired. I really miss Al and the culture days. Now I have expanded my culture days on the Internet. Wow! "I said to myself, what a wonderful world!!!"

My today's painting is a plein air piece. I did this with the "Plein Air Austin" group at Manor (east of Austin). It was done mainly with my newly obtained flexible palette knife. I was very clumsy with it at this moment, and some of the effect I want did not come out. But it is all right. I am happy to see "rooms" in my painting I can "reserve" for the knife work. Wow! "I said to myself, what a wonderful world!!!"

It was nice seeing you out there. I see you painted one of the smaller buildings and it's very nice! I have been experimenting a little with the palette knife too. It's a lot of fun.

Qiang, it is a lovely work of art. I have been hearing about this flexible palette knife lately. Look forward to seeing more of your work with it. Keep us informed as to it ease of use as you become more skilled with it. :)

Your paintings are always a source of inspiration for me to keep painting and developing skills. Your commentaries are just as much inspiration as your art!! Thank you for helping us new artists stay in touch with our creative spirits.

You did a very nice job on this--I like the looseness that the palette knife gives this one.

The painting is just fabulous. And I was smiling when I read your sentence using "depict" and "delineate". Then I laughed when I read your next sentence. YES! You used the words correctly and I understood exactly what you meant! :D I liked your talk of "culture days" on the internet. My daughter who is living in China is learning a lot of things about culture there and sharing on the internet....and teaching me a little bit of Mandarin here and there. Your paintings are really taking flight! Congratulations. I always love seeing your latest work.

Qiang, even without your "culture day" at your work, you have a wonderful command of the English language. Your comments about your paintings and your life are always funny, intuitive, and relevant; and whatever small (and utterly charming) mistakes you might make, your meaning is always clear.
Keep it up! along with your beautiful works of art.
