"Memory of the Old Days"

Recently, I didn't post as frequently as I wanted, but I was literally a daily painter. I painted everyday. Instead of doing many small paintings however, I did only one, but a relatively large painting. I have spent more than 10 day on it. This one is different from most of my paintings. I emphasized on the subtle details, but not much to the boldness of the paint quality. This was a wonderful exercise for me. I practiced more on the long term painting process. I was confronted in many areas that I was lack of skills and ideas. For a couple of days I was in real ageny (spelling? the checker didn't work today). I wanted to quit many times, but I am glad I didn't. I think I have grown quite significantly by doing this serious painting.

I am going to submit this painting to this year's Oil Painter's of America National Exhibition. I hope I get lucky.

It's beautiful! I have an old portable singer sewing machine exactly like it.
Best of luck in the competition. I'm certain you'll win.

Gorgeous painting, Qiang! It has wonderful mood and atmosphere and has the makings of a winner. It is well worth all the agony you had to go through. I know, easy for me to say.

Sew beautiful(notice: I deliberately spelled so as in sewing machine). There is actually a magazine called "Sew Beautiful" that I wrote a column for for eight years.

I love this painting! The sewing machine is beautiful and the cloth and oil cans look so real! Also the spool of thread is painted beautifully and I love how the loop of hanging thread catches the light!

Beautiful Quiang! I love the soft light on the sewing machine and how it almost disappears into the background. The fabric is taking me to the Masters! Wow!

I love this beautiful painting for more than one reason. 1. It's gorgeous in it's execution and 2. I love old sewing machines (I love to paint and to sew). Funny you should post this, just a couple days ago, I was thinking about painting an antique sewing machine, and wondering where I could get my hands on one. And then you posted this! What a coincidence!
