"Red Rose 3" --- Sold

I did a couple of red rose paintings not long ago. I was using light background that time. I thought the rose was so dark. Using dark background might not work. Well somehow I still like dark background more. I think it enhances the light and color better. Today I got more red roses. I painted this one with dark background, and it turned out good I think. For now on, I will not shy away from red roses any more.

Thank you for being so open with sharing your creative process and thoughts about your paintings. Your honesty about your work helps other artists identify with you more. I'm an artist myself, and live about an hour's drive from Austin, so we're practically neighbors. I live near Salado, and hear you are teaching a workshop there this summer. Wish I could attend.

Just gorgeous, I think your paintings of roses are to me the most beautiful rose paintings I have seen.

I think I've said this before, but I really like the squareness of your strokes on the petals - it make for a very strong looking rose.

I enjoyed reviewing your artwork online. I love your vibrant brush strokes and fresh color. I just purchased your "Red Rose 3" and very much look forward to receiving it and picking a nice frame for it. I know this little painting will give me great pleasure.

Yes your rose no.3 is excellent - I found that a red rose is the most difficult subject I've ever painted. Is the secret good tones and an impressionist touch?
