“Movement of Colors"

This one is a pure high key painting. I have been working in this realm for a while now, but have not really get the effect I really crazy about. So I will keep trying. This one is just another experiment. I know I like my low key paintings because they show much more drama of light effect. However high key does not show the dramatic spot light effect as well as low key. So why bother going this way. If you are high key painter, would you let me know why you like doing high key? I really need more inspiration to keep going this way.

Personally I like the what you call the high key paintings, but then I love colour. I often find the low key paintings quite dull. Maybe the answer lies somewhere in-between?

High key brings lightness and joy to my heart...it is not a technical thing....your paintings are beautiful in either high key or mystery light...

More dark and light....instead if all dark or all light background.

I prefer high key paintings, but that is because I love to dwell in color and light. I did force myself to work in low key this past year, and was surprised to see/discover how much color and light can exist at the other end too. It just seems more difficult (for me) to do. Perhaps we are just wired/predisposed as artists to sit at one end or the other? This is a great question!

I always preferred the low key painting and the spotlight effect and beautiful bits of color but when we did high key paintings in your mentor class I found that when I stared at my painting at home on my wall that I enjoyed looking at it and it made me feel really relaxed. Now it's the favorite painting I've done although initially I didn't really like it. Maybe you should try a medium key painting.
