This painting was my test of opacity over transparency. My background was a transparent wash with burnt umber and lot of gambol. I put it on with a piece of paper tower. I painted the Chinese food to go box majorly with a palette knife. I like the looseness of this one. I am still searching for my balance point between abstractness and realism. I think I am getting closer.
Qiang, you never cease to make me excited to see what you will post! Your vision is like a laser beam...with brilliance and clarity exactly where you ARE, and lighting up the space right in front of your next steps. Your hard work is paying off handsomely! Thank you for living with passion and commitment and sharing yourself so authentically. (-: Carole
ReplyDeleteI, too, look forward to your posts, Qiang. Your work is always unique and fresh. I love the freedom expressed in this painting.
ReplyDeleteyour paintings are fabulous every time!!
ReplyDeleteThis is closer to that lie between abstract and realism...I love it. Though I must say I am biased now after seeing so many of your pieces, I love them all and I expect to.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteAgain, a lovely painting! I love those crisp edges you were able to get on the box highlights. Just beautiful! My students hate it when I ask them to paint an all white still life, but it's such a good lesson...may have to give the take-out box a go!!
ReplyDeleteWish I could have seen you do this one. I love the looseness and brushwork of this. Looks like you nailed it in 5 minutes.
