I am keeping on reading your emails everyday. I really appreciate your support. I am so sorry I cannot reply individually. I know it is not polite to not to response, but I feel so inadequate. I have got more than one hundred emails and comments today. I don't know what to do. I want to let you know I am deeply touched. Thank you very very much. BTW, if you have a good way to manage email communication, please let me know. I really need that.
My today's painting is another gray study. You have seen a few of them lately. Gray is non-trivil matter. The color wheel I made several days ago really helped me. For this painting, I used predominately viridian + transparent oxide red + white.
To share some other news with you. On the recent 20th Oil Painters of America National Show, my painting "Memory of the Old Days" has got the Still Life Honorable Mention. This is the first time I got award on the OPA National. It gives me more confidence for my art endeavor.
Qiang, I am overjoyed for you in your leap of faith to full time painter. Your instincts are right. This is what you are meant to do, I'm sure. Thank you for sharing this gray mixture. I have learned much from watching your blog for about two years now. Thank you and congratulations on your Honorable Mention. There are many many more awards in your future!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Honorable Mention and don't worry about responding to individuals. Blogs make it possible to reach out to all at one time! Spend the time painting and inspiring us.
ReplyDeleteQiang,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your decision to leave your engineering job to become a full-time painter. It reminds me of a favorite quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
I wish you much success and happiness. And you are right...time is definitely more important than money!
Congrats as well on the Honorable Mention at the OPA show!
Thank you for this gray study. Am learning a lot from studying your paintings and your comments.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award! That is completely awesome! And I love seeing your work, every single piece is filled with so much beauty that I have to go back and look again and again.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I can speak for all of us fans and friends of your work when I say that we completely understand that you can't respond to each of us. That would be your new job instead of painting if you did that! I am touched that you took the time to thank us in this post. :)
You are a master, and so inspiring. Can't wait to see the next painting. :))))
congratulations on your award and i wish you got many more in future you r really really awesome and master in painting. i love your work and whenever there's a new post there's so much to learn from it.This one is also amazing and the best part in each piece is the background and the foreground mixing strokes are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt's an honor for us to be a part of your painting journey. Congratulations on your award.
ReplyDeletePlease don't feel compelled to answer each and every email individually. Most of these etiquette rules were created in a time well before the wonders of modern technology. Thanks to your blog you can convey your feelings to all and you do so very well. If you spend too much time responding to emails you won't have time to paint! And that would be a great loss for us all.
I am learning a lot from your paintings. Thank you for posting the color selections you chose. In the future would it be possible to mention the names of the colors you choose? It really helps the student in me. It doesn't have to be for each painting (I know it might be a bit too much) but sometimes?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Honorable Mention!!!
Congratulations on your OPA award! You deserve it and what a good timing!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the wonderful things happening for you. You deserve it all. Such a giving and kind person.
ReplyDeleteThis little painting made me smile.
It is such an act of courage to follow your passions in life. The best of luck.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the OPA Honorable Mention, I'm sure it's only the first of MANY awards ahead.
ReplyDeleteI am so delighted for you. As a former "workshop-ee" I have come to know you as a genuine, talented, generous person. I wish you the best in your art career and I'm sure it will be wonderful for you. I love your philosophical comments also and the sharing of your struggles and triumphs. All the best, Vikki Bouffard
