I am not creative today. This one is my typical composition. In my life, having time and energy to paint is really a luxury. Recently, I felt more and more forces trying to push me away from my art. I paint much less now, and the progress is not in sync with my expectation. I am not in crisis, but I have reached a low point in this relatively new career of mine. I remind myself: Just do it and never give up.
Qiang, this is simply beautiful! So your not creative today...but look what you have done! We all reach low points and that's ok because it makes the high points all that much greater. Your painting is so wonderful and you are such a pleasure to follow! You are right "Just do it;never give up" Thats something we should all live up to! Many thanks for your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteDon't you dare give up! Your artwork and your workshops have been an inspiration for so many of us and I'm sure that like myself, we still look up to you and the beautiful talent that you so graciously share. Taking your class was a turning point for me and I still learn something with each of your new posts. Thank you, Qiang! Never give up and you will work through this low point.
ReplyDeleteWe all have these non creative lapses. Try a new medium or look at art on-line, read books. Forget art for a few days. You will come back with renewed energy. Your work is so wonderful. You inspire the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteyou sound a bit down and I can see how having another career would intrude on your painting but you are very good at painting and seem to be an exceptional talent.
ReplyDeleteI started and wiped off 3 paintings today and yesterday. Very discouraging but I'm pointing this out to you so that you know we all have off days with our art.
I do it full time with no other job to distract me and yet I fail all the time to produce worthwhile paintings. I enjoy all that you do even on your "bad' days.
I have recently found your work and love it. i am a painter but just beginning. i want my work to seem as carefree and fresh as yours seems. Thank you for sharing your feelings....and keep on painting!!!

I have been struggling for years to learn how to paint - mainly because I did not have the resources to take classes or there were no classes in my town. Although drawing is relatively easy for me, when it came to painting, I knew nothing about the materials and how to make them function on the canvas, or what kind of canvasses to use. I took a workshop from you and finally found an affordable teacher, and have just completed two oils one of which is a copy of yours. I love your style and it has given me something to latch onto and to focus on, so that I finally am able - as of one week ago - able to paint on my own. I will send you a copy when it is done. Love your daily paintings and appreciate the inspiration you have given me. Thanks for the dream come true. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI love the honesty and humiltiy of your blogs. You may feel that you're at a low place right now, but you've inspired me. It's so helpful to know someone with your talent and spirit has difficulties too! Keep on painting -- your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyou're an inspiration! Thanks for keeping it up even when it is difficult!
ReplyDeleteHello Quiang, Sometimes we are our own worst enemies; stealing time away from those things that give us joy to give our energies to those things that we should quickly dismiss and move forward. When I am at a point of low creativity I like to watch videos about artists like Georgie O'Keeffe, Artemesia, Seraphine and others. I never tire of their stories and they give me such inspiration as people such as yourself do here in the blogs. So remember, what you do is important to many and always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI think you are a fantastic artist and I enjoy studying your work.
GREAT WORK...ANOTHER INSPIRATIONAL WORK OF ART. THANK YOU.
ReplyDeleteIt is so encouraging to me that a genius such as yourself can get discouraged! Thank you for your honesty and for sharing this beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous color and brush technique!!!
ReplyDeleteThis painting is so beautiful. You say it's not creative - but the brush strokes are so expressive and say so much. Being creative is not always necessary. I can relate to you - I am often pulled in so many directions that art must take a back seat. It's a constant conflict when you're an artist!
ReplyDeleteYour work is always crisp and refreshing even when to you it seems the same old thing. This painting is beautiful and pleasing to look at. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThere never seems to be enough time to do the important things - it's all taken up by the things we must do. I love your artwork so much and am glad to see you write "never give up"!
