This is another mid size painting maintaining the painterly look of my small ones. I used this composition before, but I really like it and decided to paint it again. I used very big brushes (2" wide) to do this. I may have to use brooms and mops if I paint a 30" x 40". If you like to paint large, do you use very large brushes? Would you tell me what kind of large brushes you like and where you get them?
love your work
ReplyDeletei'm trying to get my small painting loseness on midsize paintings too. i've always heard that "use large brushes and watch edge quality" saying when i ask how to paint big and loose.
cant wait to see if you get any comments on your question. keep up the good work!
Nice work. I've been following your blog and am impressed with your work.
ReplyDeleteUtrecht imports 2", 3", etc. bristle brushes from Germany. They look like house painters' brushes but with a longer handle. Reasonably priced. For regularly large flat and bright brushes, Princetons are cheap but real work horses. Robert Simmons are pricier but are classics and among the best.
This is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen . . I just keep coming online to take a look at it. I feel drawn to it . .I wish I could buy it but for now I just wanted to compliment your talent.
ReplyDeleteholy toledo these are good paintings!
