Under the harsh Texas Sun, I have been burnt out. On my still-life stand, grapes have turned into raisins. I am not very productive lately. Maybe it is the time, I should consider take some days off for a vocation.
I have received many emails and comments on my last post. I greatly appreciate peoples giving me so many suggestions on how to re-fresh a painting. I really am grateful to this artist community.
I hope my post today give you a fresh feeling. I have not done much of landscape paintings for about two years. Recently, I received quite a few requests from galleries and individual as well about my landscapes. Even I am not experienced painting landscapes, but it does not hurt to give it try. So I did this small painting as a warm up.
I really like San Antonio Missions. So many great artists have painted them. I did some plein air at the location as well. But this one is from a photo I took two years ago.
Beautiful! Your work is deserving of the attention. Take a break..and come back. I enjoy seeing your work. Tracey
ReplyDeleteHey. This is a great rendering. Take a few days off, have some friends show you how to float down the guadelupe river and cool off. It was 103 on my drive home from work today. I'm going to Maine tomorrow morning, where the high will be 63.
ReplyDeleteI love what you paint no matter the subject. Your brushwork and color says it all.
ReplyDeleteI have awarded you the Brillante Weblog award - you can read the info on my blog. You can pass it on or not, your choice. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your work and enjoy your blog and thought this would be a good way to do it.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteTake a well deserved break, Quiang, you deserve it.
This is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI think this looks very fresh. It makes me want to go there - but it's probably pretty hot right now, huh? I think you SHOULD take a vacation. Stop painting till you can't WAIT to pick up your brushes! Then see what comes out on your canvas. Everyone needs to refresh. You deserve a little rest, don't worry, we'll all check back in with you - I will always be a big fan!
ReplyDeletebrilliant brushstrokes! They are wide, confident - you are amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Qiang-huang!
ReplyDeleteYour strokes are wonderful! Your personality is so evident in the marks. I've really been enjoying browsing through your posts. ..
Hi Qiang,
ReplyDeleteI've been catching up on the dilemmas you've been feeling. It sounds like something similar to what I've been going through.
Although I hadn't been as focussed (nor as experienced) as you, I had been feeling a little frustrated with my work. I think Katherine touched on it a few posts ago, that I wasn't sure what I wanted to say with my work. So backed away from the still life I was doing and have been playing around with landscapes.
I'm not real happy with the final results I'm getting, but I can tell I'm learning and that feels good.
I'm trying to treat myself like I might a computer: when I have too many programs running, I'm not efficient and focussed, getting sluggish, susceptible to viruses ........ REBOOT! I turn myself off, go pick tomatoes in my garden, take the dog out to play.
Helps me muddle through the slow learning process.
Thanks for sharing your frustrations, and I hope it helps to know you're not alone!
