"Pink Lily Study 1" --- Sold

My flower study is getting harder. I painted this pink lily (I don't know exactly the name of this flower. It is one of the cheapest kind in my local grocery store). It is totally different ball game. I can't make it very painterly like a sunflower. I literally painted every peddle accurately with delicate color changes. Painting the edges is the key to make this flower believable. So far, this painting is the most time consuming among my recent flower studies.

  1. This flower looks like an alstroemeria. They come in many different colors and last a long time. I have tried to paint them many times only to become frustrated! Now I know there is a reason for my frustration. It is difficult to paint the subtleties of this lovely flower. Keep doing studies, they help us learn.

  4. This is the best one so far and I think it is very painterly. It is lovely.

  5. I understand the difficulty. Was it because of the roundedness of the petals versus sharper points which you could more easily paint with the flick of the brush? You are such a master; I take it back. I don't understand your difficulty.
