This is my third day being full-time in art. What a difference it makes!!! On Monday morning, I was even able to visit a friend of mine and had tea around 11:00 AM. I made lunch for Jonathan as well. But yesterday, I felt sick. I slept whole morning. I guess my long term cumulated fatigue starts to get me. I need psychologic adjustment for this new life for sure.

I did this painting yesterday afternoon. Gray study continues. The gray was ultramarine blue + raw umber. It worked pretty well.

  2. This is so beautiful, Quaing.I have been following you blog for a while, but this is the first time I've commented. The blue and orange wok so well together - but I must say, I love the gray. The way you apply the gray thickly is so wonderful! Congratulations on your full time art life!

  3. Quang-- your sick feeling was likely similar to the feeling you get standing on the edge of a cliff--will I fall? should I dive?? where's my parachute??? Ok, I have one, it's cool....jump! I have been an artist all my life, and realized early on that the trade-off was going to be 'security vs freedom'. You just went for the freedom, and you WILL fly. (-: Carole

  4. I quiang it's a good idea to give us the main color you used to makes that kind of grey shame that you didn't do it so often

  5. Now that you no longer have 'the emotional tension of the work, your body has an unconscious reaction. Find some time to do physical exercises, or run an hour in the evening.Do it whit a person. You are the best!!!!

  7. Love your grays. Thanks for sharing the gray mixtures. I'm more conscious of my grays now.

Hope you're feeling better. This has been a big transition-a lot of stress. Sleep is healing.

  8. Thank you so so much for posting your color combos. I am learning so much, truly appreciate it. I love this grey! There is something very "oddly" beautiful about this shade. The same color is used for the table as well as the cup and yet the table comes across as very solid and dense while the porcelain cup seems very delicate.
