"Joy" --- Sold

This rose painting took me a long time to do. I had to wipe out and repaint several times to get what I wanted. It is very easy to overwork when painting roses, and every brush stroke must be accurate and precise. It was so much fun, but it could be very stressful if it didn't work.

  1. This painting is absolutely a joy! It is beautiful. I can't imagine that you had to do it over and over, but the end result is perfect!

  2. I absolutely LOVE this piece...the loose dark background really sets it off in such a lovely way. I would so love to paint roses, and am a little shy about it, and so I really appreciate you saying you had to wipe it out...you are an inspiration to us all who struggle in this way!

  4. You may of had to redo it, but it was worth it. The payoff is a very fresh looking painting. Is this from photo reference or life?

  7. Very true what you say about how easy it is to overwork roses or similar flowers with a lot of petals.

  8. Your roses are wonderful, I am interested in how you start your rose paintings, I am teaching myself how to paint and have used your pear paintings to try to learn how to paint fruit. Thank you for sharing your paintings, they inspire me!
