Last night I went to the Art Center of Williamson County and did this portrait. This is my second human painting this year. I don't feel satisfied with this turning out, but it is fun to have a change. As matter of fact, I used to paint portrait and figure more than still-lifes. But I understand it will be very difficult to reach the level of professional quality with my current working conditions. I am not going to post this painting on eBay, but if you like to have it, please make me an offer.
I thinks this work is just right. No excess brush work. Perhaps you could limit your self to one 30 min. sketch per week. That way you have a foot in the water so to say. I work a 12 hr. shift and I can empathize with you about time to paint.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and different. I really like the light I see on her face. A different subject for you but still I would recognize it as yours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful qiang-huang. The loose brushwork is exquisite. I know is not your usual work, but is always good to try different subjects. Each painting we do teaches us something that we apply on the next one.
ReplyDeleteBarb is absolutely right--the subject is different, but there's no doubt it's you who painted it. That's a sign of maturity in an artist's craft. THAT should be a great reward for you. It is a beautiful portrait. Those reflected lights are especially lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic lighting and strong, decisive brushstrokes--such a nice piece! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work,
