"short and Tall" --- Sold

I couldn't paint for several days, because I had to go to Albuquerque, NM for some technical activities. This painting was done last weekend. The light was designed carefully. I like the darks in front enhancing the light at the focus point.

"Rose Bud" --- Sold

I have learned that adjusting color temperature may create subtle value change. In this painting, the left part of brown pot and the green gray background have almost same value, but the warmer color makes the pot look darker. Is it true or I am simply hallucinating? Maybe both.

"Rose Solo" --- Sold

I began painting this rose two nights ago, but I did not finish. I was too tired. When I continued last night, the rose has changed completely. It was dying because I didn't put enough water to it. I managed and finished the painting. However, it makes me realized that life is so short. I can't afford to lose any minutes, even I am tired.

"Humpty with Fruit" --- Sold

The white egg captures the light. The colors of the apples dance around. The dark shadow of the pot leads the eyes to the center of focus. That is the concept for this painting.

"Winter Leaves"

We have several trees in our back yard. At this time, Only one live oak tree still has leaves. That is the reason you see many of my paintings with only this kind of leaf. I like to paint leaves. They give a wonderful shape contrast to fruits and other well defined objects.

When I was in California, I visited a famous artist Zhaoming Wu. He does amazing figure paintings. From the discussion with him, I have learned that I don't need to place the brightest color at the center of focus. This painting is my experiment with that idea. I put most of the colors around and leave my main subject monochromatic. I have not reached the perfection yet, but I like this approach.

"My website is back"

After I posted my previous message about my website, I have received many emails and comments about the issue and offering helps. I am so touched, and thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart. It was turned out that a company named "Liberty Names of America" (LNA) tried sneakily to transfer my domain registration. My domain name scheduled to expire on 1/31/08. Prior to this date, I received a bill asking me to renew. Since my last renewal was many years ago, I did not recall exactly who I registered my domain name with, and the bill looked so real. I paid the bill and thought that my domain name would be good for another a couple of years. Last weekend, a friend sent email to me and mentioned that my website had been changed. I checked it immediately and saw a house selling site and my anti-virus flashed a warning for potential contamination. In order to protect your computers, I posted the warning to you. At the beginning, I really did not know what is going on. I spent many hours doing research based on the information from many of you. Finally, I figured out that “bill” I received is actually a piece of Junk mail. It didn’t renew my name and causes my site out of control. I googled the “Liberty Names of America” and saw many people talking about this scam. I called LNA and demand a refund. Now my site is back. It is safe. I hope my story can help some friends who are not experienced in this Cyber world.

Warning: My website has been hijacked !!!

Please do not check my website (not this blog) at this moment. Some bad people has hijacked my site. If you check it, it might contaminate your computer, I really want to thank the friend who let me this. I don't know how to solve the problem at this moment. If you are a computer expert, please give me some tips. I really appreciate it.

"Brushes Washed" --- Sold

I did this painting to commemorate my failure of entering the International Salon Show this year. This is the 4th time that the Greenhouse gallery rejects my work to be shown in their gallery. I used to think their rejection indicating my art is not good enough, but not this time, because this data point is so inconsistent with the performance of my art in other galleries and art communities, but so consistent with their decisions. This gallery does not like my work for sure. That is their opinion, but I should not use it to judge the quality of my work anymore. My brushes have been washed, but it is not because I am pity myself and quit painting. I am prepared to enter the larger world. I would rather be a wild flower, enjoying the sun and rain in nature, than a special orchid living in a greenhouse (no offence to my fellow artists who are in the show. I congratulate you whole heartily to your achievement).
